Welcome to Baruch after school! You may now register your child below. Snack is administered promptly at 2:40pm. First period begins at 3:00pm and runs until 4:30pm. Second period follows from 4:30-5:45pm. Please note double period classes including sport sessions.
 
Some programs are tryout based and therefore closed to registration. Your child is welcome to try out, but you are encouraged to choose an alternate class should they not make the team/class. Please check your child in for ALL tryouts and auditions below.

Story Book Creation 3:00-4:30
In this writing class we will generate ideas and practice editing and revising to create finished poems and stories. We will also discover ways that creative writing makes vital connections outside the classroom-- by meeting visiting writers and visiting places where writers get inspired. Students will free write every day, respond to prompts and look closely at how established writers craft their work.

Checkmate! Chess club is open to beginners through advanced players. Students are able to strengthen their comprehension, ability, and enjoyment of the game in a safe and fun environment. Students will learn fundamentals, explore the game’s complexities, and compete against classmates. *

Computer Coding 3:00-4:30
In this elective we will be learning a variety of programming languages including Java, Python, and HTML for web-pages. We will also be constructing and programming Arduinos. The Arduino is a simple microcontroller board that can be used to develop interactive objects, taking inputs from a variety of switches or sensors, and can control a variety of lights, motors, and other physical outputs. Arduino projects can be stand-alone, or they can communicate with software running on our computers. They are programmed using open-source language. We will be posting information about our projects to the Gateway Blog.

Get ready to create original films! Learn all aspects of filmmaking such as screenwriting, storyboarding, location scouting, acting, directing, filming, postproduction, scoring, distribution and marketing. Student's story boards will be digitally fused to form a book compiled of valuable life lessons to share with other teens. This course Students will explore the benefits of brainstorming as a group as well as using writing and acting as methods of expression. Students will then be instructed on the steps required to digitally input storyboards into final manuscripts.
