We appreciate your willingness to participate in our "Solar Glasses Redistribution Program". We are partnering with
Astronomy Without Borders and a variety of St. Louis area businesses, libraries, schools and others to collect ISO certified solar glasses for redistribution to school children in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019.
If you are an organization willing to serve as a collection point for glasses, please register below and note the following:
1. Your organization may register as a private collection site or a public collection site. If a public collection site, we will list you on our website.
2. Your organization will be responsible for finding your own containers to collect the glasses.
3. Please instruct your participants to only drop off solar glasses that are ISO certified (ISO 12312-2) and gently used with no visible damage.
4. Your organization will be responsible for delivering the glasses to our centralized processing center. Specifics are as follows:
Drop off dates/times:
Wednesday, October 4, 2017, 9am - 9pm
Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 9am - 9pm
Friday, October 6, 2017, 9am - 5pm
Location:
St. Louis County Library
Grand Glaize Branch
1010 Meramec Station Road
Ballwin, MO 6301
5. We encourage you to decorate your collection containers and have fun!
NOTE: If you wish to send your glasses directly to the Astronomers Without Borders centralized collection station, you can send them to:
AWB Eclipse Glasses Donation Program
Explore Scientific
1010 S. 48th Street
Springdale, AR 72762
We welcome your participation in the way the works best for you. The advantage of using the St. Louis Eclipse Task Force collection stations is that you will save shipping costs and AWB will benefit in lower manpower and costs since volunteers from the St. Louis Eclipse Task Force will quality check, sort and pack the glasses for AWB.
