The Beginning Shepherd Workshop is for all producers. There is always something new to discover, and networking is an excellent way to improve your shepherding skills, so don't let the title fool you. Everyone, regardless of experience, will come away with something helpful.
One of the great things about the MSA get-togethers is the food. We always have an excellent meal, and enjoy each other's company.  If you can, bring a covered dish or dessert to share.
Within 2 years we'll be needing a script for penicillin and oxytetracycline. Producers must have access to antibiotics for common illnesses in our livestock. We can't afford to call the vet to administer shots for ailments such as pink eye, hoof problems, pneumonia, lambing issues such as retained placenta, etc.
Louise Hall has been raising Dorper sheep for many years, and will share her expertise on keeping a healthy, parasite resistant flock of Dorper ewes in Florida.
The Scrapie Eradication Program has been very effective in stopping the spread of Scrapie in the U.S.  Tagging, premise ID, farm flock ID, and any changes in the current regulations will be discussed.
A Fresh From Florida representative will speak to us about the benefits of farm membership. Their  annual publication is beautiful, and they help with marketing, and many other aspects of agriculture.
FAMACHA Training is something every producer needs. This invaluable tool is the means by which we improve the survivability of our sheep. Florida is a hard environment for some sheep, and with Famacha, we can find those individuals and remove those genetics from the flock. It's easy and simple, and well worth the time and expense. And Sally is an awesome instructor.
