MAKING A FELT HAT WITH LIBBY
Saturday, April 6, 2019

Workshop begins at 10AM

$70 Per Person, processed wool provided.
$50 Per Person, you provide your own processed wool.

Making this stylish felt hat will take 2, half days, Friday & Saturday.

The wool provided for this hat felting workshop is Cracker Sheep wool produced by Fairmeadow Farm of Ocala, FL. This beautiful, soft wool was processed by Pioneer Fiber Mill of New Smyrna Beach, FL.  It is truly a Florida Felt Hat!

If you provide your own wool you must have the wool free of lanolin and vegetable matter. It must be very clean or it will not felt properly.

A MESSAGE FROM LIBBY KAHN:

Wool decides exactly how it wants to felt, but through an easy process of altering the pH of wool with soap, hot water, and agitation, we can encourage the wool to transform into a hat!

Day 1 includes a decision on whether the hat remains the neutral color of the wool, or if the student wants to recard the wool to include other colors.  Then we will go through the steps of wetting/felting process.  There will be time to make accessory pieces for our hats (like flowers) and begin thinking about what kind of outer band we want our individual hats to have.

Day 2  (after the hat dries overnight) we will sew in an inner band which will form-fit the hat to our heads, finish any accessories, and attach the outer band of choice. I look forward to enjoying this workshop with you!

There are only 12 spots so sign up soon!
