ReadingPals High School Volunteer Application 2023/2024 (Grades 10-12)

Alachua County ReadingPals Application
2023/2024 School Year

Thank you for your interest in United Way of North Central Florida ReadingPals!

ReadingPals is a volunteer-based early literacy initiative that provides mentors for students from 1st through 3rd grade who may need extra help, utilizing one-on-one settings. This program is managed by The Children's Movement of Florida and is administered locally through United Way of North Central Florida. Statewide, we offer programs in 27 counties for students as young as Pre-K via 17 local United Ways and other community partners, with opportunities in more than 200 schools and childcare centers. Collectively, we provide over 3,000 students every year with a mentor. This is all made possible thanks to Carol and Barney Barnett through their Publix Charities Foundation and their family’s passion for promoting literacy and early childhood development in Florida.

High School volunteers must be in 11th grade or at least 16 years of age. Volunteers are required to submit an application with parent consent, provide two references and attend a 2-hour training before they can being volunteering. Once your application is submitted, you will be contacted with instructions on how to sign up for a volunteer training.

Please complete this short application to apply for the 2023-2024 school year. Our virtual program runs all year long.
