Beach Club FAQ's

  1. Can my son play in beach club and on an indoor club/high school volleyball team?

    • Yes! Beach club practices do not interfere with Bay to Bay or CIF high school indoor team practice/tournament schedules. Beach volleyball is also considered a seperate sport by the CIF so athletes can participate in beach at the same time as their high school season.

  2. Do I need a partner in order to sign-up?

    • No, it is not necessary to have a partner when you sign up. Selected athletes will be placed in competition groups with players of similarly based skill and age levels.

  3. Does this include any tournaments?

    • Bay to Bay will host an end of the season tournament for all beach club members. Players are also encouraged to sign up for local CBVA events on their own.

Time Commitment: Spring Beach Club is a 3 - 4 times a month commitment from February - April. The club will practice on Sunday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.

This training schedule allows players to participate in the indoor club season with zero conflict with tournaments and Bay to Bay practices. The season ends in April with an inter-club tournament at West Valley.

Competition Groups: Beach volleyball is a 2 on 2 game. While this means that players must compete with a partner, it does not mean that you have to have a partner to join the beach club. Under the supervision of court and lead coaches, players in the beach club will be broken into small groups of similarly based skill and age levels. These competition groups allow for maximum individual contacts, while still maintaining the "game like" atmosphere. When it comes to competing in tournaments, if you do not have a set partner, we will try and put players of similar age and skill levels together.

Each competition group will practice at the same time at West Valley College. This allows the entire club (coaches and players) to interact during training group sessions.

Coaching Staff: Alex Jones, a standout USA beach volleyball player and coach, will serve as the lead instructor. Alex was a member of the USA Beach Junior National Team for 3 years, finishing as high as 5th place in the World Championships. Alex also serves as the lead evaluator and tryout coach for the 2017 USA Beach High Performance Program. In addition to his role with USA Beach, Alex also serves as the assistant coach for the women's beach program at West Valley College.

Each competition group will also have a court coach to help provide a comprehensive and positive coaching environment. Court coaches will rotate within competition groups to ensure interaction with each and every member of the club throughout the season. Our coaches train with the most current techniques used by the National Governing Body: USA Beach.

Registration must be completed online, we do not accept any walk-ups the day of tryouts

COVID-19 Acknowledgement
The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is extremely contagious and is believed to spread mainly from person-to-person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing and have, in many locations, prohibited the congregation of groups of people.
Bay to Bay Volleyball Club (“the Club”) has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19; however, the Club cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Further, attending Club events could increase your risk and your child(ren)’s risk of contracting COVID-19.
Assumption of Risk and Waiver of Liability
By signing this agreement, I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that my child(ren) and I may be exposed to or infected by COVID-19 by attending Club practices and that such exposure or infection may result in personal injury, illness, permanent disability, and death. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 at Club events may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, Club employees, independent contractors, volunteers, rental facilities and program participants and their families.
I voluntarily agree to assume all of the foregoing risks and accept sole responsibility for any injury to my child(ren) or myself (including, but not limited to, personal injury, disability, and death), illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense, of any kind, that I or my child(ren) may experience or incur in connection with my child(ren)’s attendance at the Club or participation in Club programming (“Claims”). On my behalf, and on behalf of my children, I hereby release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless the Club, its employees, agents, rental facilities and representatives, of and from the Claims, including all liabilities, claims, actions, damages, costs or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating thereto. I understand and agree that this release includes any Claims based on the actions, omissions, or negligence of the Club, its employees, agents, and representatives, whether a COVID-19 infection occurs before, during, or after participation in any Club program.
Contact Tracing Agreement
I voluntarily agree to notify the club if anyone in our household contracts or becomes exposed to someone who has or is suspected of contracting COVID-19. In doing so, I will allow the club to notify all people who may have been potentially exposed while at a Club event to help reduce the risk of spread.
I agree to self-isolate my family for a CDC recommended 5-day period from the time of potential contact or receive a negative FDA approved COVID-19 test result prior to returning to a Club event.
