Does this include any tournaments?
Time Commitment: Fall Beach Club is a 3 - 4 times a month commitment from August - December. The club will practice on Sunday mornings from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
This training schedule allows players to participate in the indoor club season with zero conflict with high school tournaments and Bay to Bay practices. The season ends in April with an inter-club tournament at West Valley.
Competition Groups: Beach volleyball is a 2 on 2 game. While this means that players must compete with a partner, it does not mean that you have to have a partner to join the beach club. Under the supervision of court and lead coaches, players in the beach club will be broken into small groups of similarly based skill and age levels. These competition groups allow for maximum individual contacts, while still maintaining the "game like" atmosphere. When it comes to competing in tournaments, if you do not have a set partner, we will try and put players of similar age and skill levels together.
Each competition group will practice at the same time at West Valley College. This allows the entire club (coaches and players) to interact during training group sessions.
Coaching Staff: Alex Jones, a standout USA beach volleyball player and coach, will serve as the lead instructor. Alex was a member of the USA Beach Junior National Team for 3 years, finishing as high as 5th place in the World Championships. Alex also serves as the lead evaluator and tryout coach for the 2017 USA Beach High Performance Program. In addition to his role with USA Beach, Alex also serves as the assistant coach for the women's beach program at West Valley College.
Each competition group will also have a court coach to help provide a comprehensive and positive coaching environment. Court coaches will rotate within competition groups to ensure interaction with each and every member of the club throughout the season. Our coaches train with the most current techniques used by the National Governing Body: USA Beach.
Beach volleyball is a player driven sport, which means there is no coaching allowed during matches or while at CBVA or NCVA tournaments.
Registration must be completed online, we do not accept any walk-ups the day of tryouts
