What are the essential components to promote a student’s creativity and curiosity? During this conference, participants will understand how Floortime and the DIR® model can be used across the disciplinary domains with students of all ages.  Breakout sessions will address a range of themes including how curiosity and creativity develop through meaningful relationships across the developmental ladder. By cultivating curiosity and creativity, students are able to build a strong foundation necessary for productive learning and development in a shared world. Presenters from the Rebecca School, self-advocates, and ICDL community will show how following a student’s passion can both build a strong relationship and accomplish discipline specific goals. This conference is open to self-advocates, professionals and parents.

Keynote Presenter:
Morénike Giwa Onaiwu

Morénike Giwa Onaiwu, is an Autistic woman of color, educator, writer, public speaker, parent, and global advocate. A proactive, resourceful professional, Morénike, whose undergraduate and graduate degrees are in International Relations and Education, is passionate about human rights, justice, and inclusion. She is a contributing author/editor of several publications, abstracts, and books focusing on community engagement, HIV research, disability, diversity, and nontraditional leadership. Morénike has been an invited speaker in the White House, at the UN, and numerous national disability, advocacy, and research conferences. 

Breakout Sessions:  Professionals from Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Music Therapy, and related fields will present interdisciplinary presentations from a DIR® Floortime developmental perspective.  Video examples and real world applications will be used to illustrate theoretical developmental perspectives.  A more detailed description of breakout sessions will be posted soon.
