iPhone/iPad Help

What do you need help with?

How do I soft reset my device?
Soft resetting your iPhone/iPad is a great way to fix many issues and we recommend attempting this action before calling the IT Service Desk about an issue.  Simply hold down the home button and the power button at the same time until the screen goes black and continue holding both buttons until the Apple icon appears.
How do I kill applications running in the background?
Double tapping the home button on your device will display a list of applications that are currently running.  To kill an application, simply flick it upward (you can use two fingers to kill multiple applications at once).  This can improve the speed of your device as well as increase battery life.
How do I take a screenshot of my device?
Tap the power button (top right of device) and the home button (round button towards the bottom of the device) at the same time.  Your screen will flash and a screenshot will be generated.  You can locate this image in the "Photos" icon on the homescreen of your device.

How do I know how much data I am using?
Be aware that video and music streaming are the biggest culprits behind high data usage.  It is best to use a WiFi connection for these activities instead of your cellular connection.  To connect to a WiFi network (if available), from the Home Screen, tap Settings -> Wi-Fi and then choose a network.  Enter the network password, if required.

To determine your exact data usage, please contact your specific carrier using the information below:
Verizon:  dial #3282 and you will receive a text with your data usage
AT&T:     dial *3282# and you will receive a text with your data usage
Sprint:     send a text message to 1313 with the word ‘usage’ and you will receive a text with your data usage
To see a breakdown of data usage per application:

Tap on Settings -> Cellular  (your usage will be shown towards the bottom)

My iPhone/iPad is not playing sound.
iPhones and iPads have a ‘Silent Switch’ located above the volume controls.  If this switch is enabled (you will see a red dot) all sounds will be turned off on the device. Simply flip the switch to resume sounds and alerts.

I am not receiving email on my device.
There are various reasons why this may happen.  Please try the following troubleshooting items in order:

1) Soft reset your device using the instructions listed above.
2) Change your data connection type to ensure you have an active internet connection.  On your device go to Settings.  If WiFi in enabled, turn it off and attempt to refresh your mail folder.  If you are not on WiFi, attempt to connect to an available network.  Once you have swtiched your data connection, refresh your mail folder by tapping your Mail icon and go into your inbox. Once in your inbox, slide your finger in a downward motion to force the folder to update.
3) Change your Ecolab email password.  If you know your current password click here to update your password.  If you do not know your password, you may call 1-800-826-9573 to have it reset. Once you have a new password, update the password for your mailbox by going to Settings -> Mail, Contact, Calendars -> Ecolab and tap on your email address at the top.  Next, tap on the password field, delete the existing characters, enter your new password and click 'Done' in the top right corner.

I am missing older emails on my device.
This could be due to a setting on your device.  To ensure you have the correct option go to Settings -> Mail, Contact, Calendars -> Ecolab.  Once on this screen make sure “Mail Days to Sync” is set to “No Limit”.
I cannot access my iOS hotspot.
On your device, go to Settings -> Personal Hotspot and ensure your hotspot is turned on. You must leave your device on this exact screen when you attempt to connect your other device to the hotspot.  Changing the WiFi password may also fix connection issues.  To change your password, simply tap the "Wi-Fi Password" box and change it to any 8 character password, clicking 'Done' in the top right to save.
It is hard to read text on my device.
You have the ability to make your device more legible by increasing your text size.  Go to Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Larger Text and increase the slider to the desired level. Enabling 'Bold Text' can also make text easier to read.
