Registration for the 2018 Calgary Cup team Kata is easier than ever this year. Simply enter the personal information for each of the three registrants and add the Team Kata event to your cart. When you're done, enter your billing info and you will be directed to PayPal to complete the payment process securely.

Please have the following information ready for each of the three registrants in order to complete the registration process:

  • Height
  • Weight
  • Date of Birth
  • Dojo Name
  • Rank
  • IKO Membership Number
  • Instructor
  • Photo of Registrant Wearing Dogi (may be emailed if unavailable at time of registration)

4 steps to register
  • Confirm that your dojo is a member of IKOK-Canada (Branch Chief Shihan Stuart Corrigal)
  • Get permission from your instructor to participate in the event (Very important!)
  • Choose the three members of your team
  • Complete the form and pay using your PayPal account or credit card
Students from other branches of IKO (Kancho Shokei Matsui)
  • Please contact your Branch Chief through your instructor
  • Obtain approval from your Branch Chief
  • Sign up for the tournament using the same steps as described above
Students from international IKO branches outside Canada and USA
  • Please have your Branch Chief contact Branch Chief Shihan Stuart Corrigal
  • Obtain approval from both Branch Chiefs
  • Sign up for the tournament using the same steps as described above
Students from outside of our organization (IKO with Kancho Shokei Matsui)
  • We thank you for your interest in the Calgary Cup Karate Championships.  Due to the terms of our insurance and liability policy, this tournament is only open to members of our organization.  However, there have been a few exceptions in the past.  If your club or organization is interested in participating, please contact us by email.  We will consult our Board of Directors about the possibility of your participation.  Again, we thank you for your interest and understanding.


Team Kata Divisions

Fee $40.00

Competitors are to perform one Kyokushin Kata of their choice with 3 competitors per team.

Competitors are required to:

  • Follow requirements as listed for General Kata Divisions
  • Perform Kata in unison from beginning to end (no specific layout is required)
  • Demonstrate the bunkai of the Kata they have just performed (no props or music is allowed)
  • Maximum allotted time is 5 minutes per team.
  • Teams will be scored on
    • ability to stay in unison
    • demonstration of bunkai of kata
    • originality of performance
